[Article from Boing Boing Gadgets]

Just read this article by Joel Johnson off BB Gadgets, and I have to say that I agree with him on every point that he makes, and with his overall wish for MobileMe.

I'd be perfectly happy to pay $100 a year for over-the-air syncing if MobileMe allowed me to use other services than those from Me.com.

Of course I’ve not actually manage to get MobileMe working on my iMac, as clicking the “Synchronise with Mobile Me” check box makes it go blue for a while, it claims its registering the computer, then stops, randomly reverts back to its original state and still no syncing…funnily enough though it works on my 4yr old G4 iBook.

Office 2007

Anyone notice that the Office installer's windows are awfully like the Mac's "morphing" windows....

I've written a plugin for Movable Type that allows you to use MediaWiki style internal links to link to a MediaWiki (or concievably any other wiki). Its implemented as a TextFormatter, and any thing that uses double square brackets will become a link. More info on the [[MT2MW]] wiki page (this link is using the plugin btw!)

A Different Kind Of Blog

| | Comments (0)

I'm thinking of an experiment in blogging, in which the posts are not so much posted but recorded. In the world of modern instant messaging its dead easy to capture the logs of a chat between any two (or more) people. So why not take those conversations and publish them as a blog?

Admittedly you have to think about various issues of privacy and editing the conversation prior to publication, whilst minimising the amount of "editing" required.

Maybe some sort of IM plugin that would allow you to "blog this conversation" at the end of it. Hmm must think upon this further.

Ipod Killer App?

This is a great idea for the Ipod. I was working on something similar that would do synthesise RSS feeds and bung them on my Ipod automatically....Must dig it out again. Unfortunately that ran into issues because the default voices (Microsoft :-( default SAPI ones) started to really grate, and I couldn't (and still can't) afford AT&T's Natural voices.

Still must try to put up my code.

Divil has updated his excellent UI controls for .Net. These controls totally blew me away, much more easy to use and way better looking than some commercial controls, and the prices are simply amazing. It's free for non-profit use. The controls include Menu and toolbars which can be docked to any side and have custom renderers, Docking window controls, outlook bar etc. This guy is really a guru of windows forms control development.
